In case you didn’t know, this is the month to acknowledge and celebrate nonprofit organizations! To be exact, August 17th is National Nonprofit Day! That’s why we thought it would be fitting to share the backstory of our nonprofit.
Now, the creation of Secret Miracles Inc began back in 2007. The event which brought about the inspiration was the continual lack of resources and knowledge to assist low income students in New Orleans, Louisiana. Many students beginning at middle school throughout high school, don’t receive proper guidance to assist them with their career planning, college preparation, or entrepreneurship.
Secret Miracles Inc stemmed from a community desire to provide mentoring to students from diverse backgrounds. It came specifically from a group of passionate ladies from New Orleans who mentored students just from the desire within their hearts. By providing the students with college and career guidance this initiative evolved into a 501(c)(3) organization in 2015.
So, the essence reflects a journey of transformation and resilience for underrepresented students preparing to exit the high school system. Our core mission is to equip these students with the necessary resources and guidance required to successfully transition into the next generation of leaders.
