Meet The New WINtern: Frankie Tracy

Headshot of intern Frankie Tracy

Who Am I?

My name is Frankie Tracy, and I am a rising Junior at the University of Michigan studying Communications and Media with a minor in Business. I have always been fascinated by music, social media, and writing, and my passion for the three has been the driving force in my professional life. As a result, I have done a lot of work in the cross-section between these three worlds, particularly in public relations and marketing.

What Am I Doing?

Through my love for music and writing, I helped found a music magazine called BLUR Magazine. Through BLUR, I work as a contributing writer giving opinions on new releases, attending press conferences, and conducting interviews. I also work as the Public Relations Manager, through which I work in web design, content creation, and branding. I have also worked with a local music business club, known as MUSIC Matters, to organize and execute live shows, build talent rosters, and book and manage artists. Through my experiences at BLUR and MUSIC Matters, I have identified the roles and responsibilities I enjoy, which has helped me hone the path I hope to take through my career.

I’ve found, through these projects, that I love to work specifically with content creation, creative writing, and marketing. From this understanding, I have determined that my passions would fit best in either marketing or public relations, preferably within the music industry, which has since driven my career endeavors. This summer, to further these goals, I’m excited to work as a WINtern here at Women Into Marketing, and I’m also working with the 740 Project as a creative marketing intern!

Why WIN?

Between rigorous class schedules, a part-time job, and a myriad of extracurricular activities, I am constantly busy learning and growing. However, these experiences have taught me invaluable life lessons about time management, organization, and how to enjoy the things around me. This motivated me to want to explore the world of marketing on a deeper level, which is what led me to WIN! I hope to gain a more in-depth understanding of social media and digital marketing from a new perspective. While I have some experience with marketing and public relations from BLUR Magazine, I love the idea of gaining more experience from the side of a nonprofit. I’m also excited for the deep dive I’ll be able to take into a specific role through the mentorship program. I’m so excited for all of the things to come this summer! Feel free to connect with me on Instagram or Linkedin.
